The Big Bash
The Big Bash 2009 - An Extraordinary Success!

April 25th-26th 2009 saw The Roundhouse in St Hilary come alive for a unique fundraising music event. Friends and family, neighbours and far-flung fans alike gathered to witness a 24-hour non-stop drum marathon by Iolo Whelan, aided and abbetted by an incredible array of talented musicians. There are a few photos below to give a taste of how the weekend looked.

The Big Bash 2009 raised a phenomenal £3,170 for the charity WaterAid, which aims to tackle povery and disease through the provision of water, sanitation and hygiene education. Many thanks to everybody who helped raise this sum by sponsoring the drummers, by visiting and contributing on the day, and by donating online.

The Big Bash would like to thank the corporate sponsors who gave so readily of their resources:
Portable Toilets Limited, Bridgend; Stage Light and Sound, Cardiff; The Downs School, Wraxhall;
Coed Hills Rural Artspace, St Hilary; and of course, The Roundhouse Project.

A huge thank you to the volunteers: Andy the webmaster, Jamie the graphic designer; all the sponsored drummers who took part and their families; the catering crew, teamakers and cake bakers supreme; the face painters; the incredible musicians - Daniel Pressley, Colum Regan and his Band, The Roundhouse Jazz Quintet and their guests, Mabon, Rob Cross, Elin Lloyd, Aaron Meli; and the stage crew, Phil the Soundman and Tigger the stage manager. What a team! The Big Bash was only made possible by your willing contributions of your time and talents.

There are four very special thank-yous to finish the list:
Rachel Pressley for moral support and inspired thinking; Donal Whelan, host, MC and a fantastic right-hand-man;
Dafydd Wiliam for putting the lid on;
And Patrick and Carys Whelan, whose generousity of spirit is big enough to embrace everyone who attended The Big Bash.

The Big Bash 2009 - Llwyddiant Ysgubol!

Bu 25ain-26ain o Ebrill yn benwythnos rhyfeddol yn Y Ty Crwn ym Mro Morgannwg. Daeth pobl yn llu i glywed 24 awr o ddrymio di-dor gan Iolo Whelan, yn ogystal â pherfformiadau gan doreth o gerddorion talentog eraill. Mae detholiad o luniau isod i roi blas ar sut aeth y penwythnos.

Cododd y digwyddiad £3,170 i'r elusen WaterAid, sy'n ymladd tlodi drwy gyflenwad dwr glan, carthffosiaeth ac addysg glendid. Diolch i bawb gyfranodd at y swm yma drwy noddi'r drymwyr, drwy ymweld a chyfrannu ar y dydd, a thrwy gyfrannu ar y we.

Hoffai'r Big Bash ddiolch i'r cwmniau canlynol am eu cefnogaeth hael:
Portable Toilets Limited, Penybont; Stage Light and Sound, Caerdydd;
The Downs School, Wraxhall; Celfan Wledig Coed Hills, Sain Hilari; ac wrth gwrs, Cywaith y Ty Crwn.

Diolch o galon i'r gwirfoddolwyr i gyd: Andy meistr y wefan, Jamie y dylunydd; yr holl ddrymwyr gymrodd rhan, a'u teuluoedd; y criw te a theisen; y paentwyr gwynebau; y cerddorion anhygoel - Daniel Pressley, Colum Regan a'i fand, Pedwarawd Jazz Y Ty Crwn a'u gwesteuon, Mabon, Rob Cross, Elin Lloyd, Aaron Meli; a'r criw, Phil y Sain a Tigger y Llwyfan. Am haelioni - dim ond trwy gyfraniadau'r bobl yma gwnaed The Big Bash yn bosibl.

Mae pedwar diolch arbennig o fawr i orffen:
Rachel Pressley am gymorth ac am syniadau gwych; Donal Whelan am gefnogaeth mor barod a mor werthfawr fel wastad;
Dafydd Wiliam am roi'r to ar y ty!;
Ac yn fwyaf oll, Patrick a Carys Whelan, sydd mor hael gyda'u tir, eu croeso a'u brwdfrydedd.
